Emerald Ash Borer

Proper diagnosis is important to know if you have ash borer or not.

I also get asked a lot about whether a tree should be sprayed to prevent ash borer.

That depends upon several factors. The first, from my viewpoint, is how likely are you to have an attack in your area and is your tree worth treating?

Fall is for Planting

As long as the ground is not frozen, plant those trees you have been wanting, especially with this prolonged warm weather we are having. The nurseries have some great buys. They want to reduce their stock prior to the winter, since they are winding down for the season. Also, it is important to water (keep the soil moist) during these dry periods. The best way to preserve that moisture is to “mulch” with wood chips and the leaves you have raked up.
